Florida players Josh Shaw and Lynden Trail announced today they are leaving the program, which makes a total of 11 transfers since Will Muschamp became head coach in January.

Both players were red-shirt freshmen this season and will have two years of eligibility remaining when they restart their careers in 2013.

Shaw, a safety, played in 10 of 12 games this season. He said his decision was strictly to be closer to his home in California.

“This is not a football decision, this is a family decision,” he said in statement released by the University Athletic Association. “I need to be with my family.”

Trail, a defensive end from Miami, never played and did not even attend some of Florida’s home games this year.

Another player, offensive lineman David Young, informed the team he will forgo his senior year, the school announced Saturday.

All of the departures mean Florida now has 66 scholarship players and will graduate 10 more after the bowl game. The NCAA maximum is 85, and the SEC limits signing classes to 25.
